UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa with its partners the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoEST), the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) and the Engineering School of the University of Nairobi will be organizing events to mark the Africa Engineering Week in Kenya from 1st to 3rd September 2015. The events will be targeting to inspire secondary school boys and girls to embrace STEM courses and careers and to particularly see Engineering as an important profession for their Country's sustainable development. Apart from mentoring talks on STEM generally and Engineering in particular by role models and engineering students, the participating students will be exposed to the learning environments through visits to the laboratories of the different engineering fields and exposure to laboratory demonstrations by the engineers in their respective fields. Further, the students will also have the opportunity to visit some exhibitions and to interact and be mentored by the Women in Technology from SAFARICOM (the largest mobile Phone service provider in Kenya, the DAA Technology team from the UK, members of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya and other role models.
